Power suplply recomendation for this project

What should I be looking for in a power supply for this planned build :

- ANTEC 900
- Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550
- ATI HD4870
- ASUS P5E Deluxe X48
- 2x2GB DDR2 X2 (8GB

Seems to be more complicated than I had expected...

Corsair makes good, reliable PSU's. The 620HX (modular), 650TX, 550VX, 520HX (modular) should work, although the last one might be cutting it close.

Since posting I found the ATI page with recommended power supplies for the HD 4870.

Most of the models the recommend are in the 1000W range - do I really need that much? Why are they recommending such wattage?

It seems that they do, but they're also listed as using two cards. You're only using one right?

Welcome to the forums, Zerozen Ones.

A decent 550W PSU should be able to run that. If you have upgrade plans that include a second video card, you may want to look into 750W or more. As for particular recommendations...

Any of the Corsairs should work. The BFG LS-series and ES-series should work. Antec TruePower (trio or quattro) series should work (550W and up). Antec Earthwatts 500W+ should work.

Yes - that 650TX looks pretty good actualy - reviews are exellent - price is good... I might just go with that.Thx!!
