Power still on after XP shut down, how do I fix?

My rig, click the link "Beast" in my sig, will not fully power off. I am using XP home service pack 1 only. When I select shut down the machine shuts down properly and everything including PSU and CPU fans, front panel leds and hard disc, switches off. And yet my optical mouse (cabled, not cordless) still remains on. If I want to have the power off completely I have to either switch the power off at the PSU round the back OR switch off or unplug the socket at the mains supply.

My father's new PC also does this. His is a Hewlett Packard 424.uk.

So is this something that happens with Win XP? It never happened with XP when I had a multiboot system using Win ME, Win2000 & XP home.

How can I fix it? I tried all the settings I could think in the BIOS, which I is still running on the standard revision with no updates.

Listen to the newb

My Logitech would do that when it was plugged in through the USB-PS2 convertor, but not when on straight USB. Check your "wake on event" settings in the BIOS. :)
