Power saving programs ?

My HP Laptop eats up battery REALLY fast, it goes from 100 to like 97 in 2 minutes
im trying to find a program that will let me adjust more than just the brightness of the screen.
anyone here know of one >
Thanks !

What is the model of your laptop? A lot of this depends on what your laptop is capable of. A lot of them auto adjust settings depending on your processor, etc. For instance, a lot of newer laptops downclock the speed of the CPU to save power, and bumps up to it's top speed when needed, all automatically.

Windows most of the time carries all the power savings tools you'll need. Windows Vista offers even more options if you look around the control panel for them.

Need more info!!

i have a HP DV6406NR
AMD Athlong 64 X2
1GB Ram
120GB HDD
Nvidia Geforce go 6150

The HP prorgram i have only shows battery level...where can i get that program because my battery goes out fast for some reason.

my sisters toshiba has a program that lets her adjust the processor performance and brighness and etc
i have the default vista program, which pretty much does nothing.

there's a program originally written for dells called speedswitchXP, it allows you to lock the cpu to the lowest power state. it recall it worked with a few other brands as well.

well i played around with NHC, and i am surprised, its a great tool, i will tinker with it more to see how much power it actually saves me
thanks !

That is one of the big pluses I find in Vista. It has a very good power management system with lots of customization available including screen brightness, etc.

im not too fond of vista's power modes, however i m trying to make nvidia powermizer work, and it wont work, or better yet
idk where to download it
