Power saving gigabyte/Asus... best HW combination?

Hi all. I have purchased an i5-3570k and would like to know what is the best Z77-based motherboard and GPU combination that allow the motherboard power saving technology to work with the GPU?

My current Core 2 Duo rig uses an Asus board with EPU-4 engine, and even though my GTX 650 is made by Asus, the EPU-4 software does not support it!!

I'm thinking of buying the Gigabyte Z77-UD3H or the AsRock z77 Extreme4 motherboards and hoping anyone here knows which particular GPU's work with these two different boards.

EPU-4 seems to be some ancient tech, it only supports really old graphic cards that didn't downclock themselves. Modern graphic cards do clock down during idle and light loads and there is nothing a motherboard can do to improve on that.

Some might say to use Virtu but in my experience that only increased powerdraw.
