Would an EVGA 750w GOLD power supply be sufficient for two 280x's and a 7970 GHz edition for purposes of mining?

If not,what would you recommend?

I'm sorta second guessing myself here, not because of your CPU, just because 3x 200W+ GPUs is cutting it close. Does mining stress the cards as much as gaming, or even more?

Honestly, I couldn't give you an answer. I know that my cards are stable at higher overclocks while mining compared to gaming and that mining requires small PCIE bandwidth.

So 850w then?

A good 750W platinum supply should do ~ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...7151120&cm_re=seasonic-_-17-151-120-_-Product

OR another (cheaper?) 850W one :D

If you've got a flexible budget then overspending on a PSU is the best thing you can do, trust me you won't regret it later.

Thank you for the advice. I definitely won't skimp on the PSU.

One more question for you, in my other rig, how many watts would you need to power one rig with four 280x's and one 280?

Nothing less than 1300W, but just to be on the safe side you should get ~ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139079
OR http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256054

The AX1500i is the best rated PSU, in that class, across the board on various review sites including AT. Take it as an investment & buy it only if you'd still be using it 2~5 years down the road, since it carries a sizable price premium.

I have a system (H97, G3258) mining Eth with a 7990 at 1ghz, a 380 at 1050, and a 7950 at 1050. It pulls about 840W from the wall when fully warmed up. That's only a bit bit over 750W DC, so you should be fine.
