Power rating on Car stereo CD deck.

40wattsX4 is definitely peak. there is no way you can fit such a powerful amp in something the size of a headunit. my pioneer is 50X4 peak and 22W RMS.

<< should be RMS unless mentioned as PMPO.. here in the US, most things are rated RMS, but in Asia, its rated PMPO. >>

actually, i think it's the other away around. it's usually peak unless stated as RMS. most low-end manufacturers like to fool the buyers into thinking their getting a more powerful unit that it actually is.
i could be wrong.

Psteng is right. I should clarified in my earlier post. Like Psteng said, the RMS power is likely to be from 15-25watts. They fool you by showing the peak power. However, really high end stuff will typically show RMS values. Also, really high end decks sometimes don't have built in amps. My old Eclipse head unit was one such.

Hey, i said that, gimmie credit 🙂

lol...

deeko said the 15-25 watts RMS part, i sed the part about them trying to fool you with PMPO numbers. spooon verified both.
we all get credit 😀

get the 2001 pioneer line if you plan to use head unit power. It has mosfet amp circuits which will drive more clean power than most of the other brands.

if it says 50 watts, it means 20-25 RMS at tops without distortion.
