Don't knock it just because you didn't grow up with it. I was 8 when this came out and it was kickass.

You know, whenever I watch something today that I loved when I was kid I am almost always sorely disappointed by them. Those shows I loved as a kid suck ass...they sucked ass then and they suck even more ass now...well, except for Looney Tunes, those are timeless.

My 6 year old son watches some of those Power Ranger movies/TV shows now and I can't believe how bad they are. Honestly, they are unwatchable.

Sorry to shoot you down kid but that's the fact. :p

they sucked ass then, yet you loved them? If they're unwatchable, why do you let you son watch them?

What about turbo?

Turbo was 4th grade for me. I watched Power Rangers religiously through turbo, then they ditched the old cast and I lost interest.

not really. Power Rangers came out in Japan in the 70s. Voltron in the 80s.

They are unwatchable to me...as an adult...I loved watching them as a child because, as we all know, children are easily amused. And I allow him to watch them because he likes them. I'm not a fucking nazi douchebag you know. :p

My teacher edited power rangers : turbo. He said the director was an idiot and on more than one occasion had to flip the film in reverse to get it to look right.

I'm waiting for hollywood to make another power rangers movie, this time with a psuedo serious script and michael bay directing. How could it be bad?

If you look hard enough, I bet you'll find it on the tube somewhere.

Nastalgia? It was crap then and it's still crap now. As soon as the show premiered on TV I always used it as an example of how out-of-touch adults were with what kids liked and thought was cool, even though there were no shortage of idiot kids that liked it anyway. Spliced and dubbed tokusatsu of all kinds FTL.

I still remember when my friend's sister, who was my age, came home from the theater saying "It's not as bad as you'd expect." When I saw it myself it was even WORSE than I expected. TERRIBLE. His sister is an idiot. No fond memories. No nastalgia. Psst: Your past idiocy is showing.

There was one dude my age who I met by playing against him on X-BAND (SNES video game modem; usually played Killer Instinct). As friends, we talked on the phone a bit until I couldn't stand him anymore because he couldn't stop bringing up Power Rangers just because it was Japanese. UGH. I was witnessing the beginning of the anime lamer "It's good because it's Japanese" mentality and it wasn't even animated (this was pre-Pokemon and all that).

Now C&D were the coolest when I was even younger. My brother and I would record ourselves singing the theme song. ;)

Actually, it seems that individually piloted machines combining to form larger humanoid robot fighting machines is a genre in Japanese media. It's a sub-genre of the big fighting robot (bio or mechanical) genre as a whole.
