A video card requiring a 450w psu should work with a 500w psu, unless the power supply has some issues with keeping volts stable.

Doesn't sound like a power problem to me. Sounds more like you have an issue with either your processor, motherboard or video card just not working rather than your psu.

Did your system work before hand or is this a new build? Also did you change any components before it stopped working?

Edit: Ok, judging by your other thread (which you should consolidate by the way), you are receiving beeps at startup. Does the motherboard also beep when you put in your x800 card?

Also, make sure you have that pci-e power connector connected to your video card.
