so my nad stereo from the states is wired for 120v/60hz. i'm in india, (230v). i just got a bigass 2Kva transformer, but that still only outputs 120v/50hz.

i know for solid state electronics it usually isn't a problem. but for things like cd players/tuners/preamps that might have ac motors, the motors will all spin slower, and the current inside will increase.

just wondering if anyone has experience with this...?

nope...its a nad from the late 80s, built for the US market only. in any case the voltage is not the problem (i have a transformer), i'm just worried about the cycles.

Shouldn't be a problem. It's 50Hz standard here in Japan, and people use American stuff on it without too much trouble. We do the reverse without any issues -- our phone is Japanese, but the house is running American voltage.

I ran my old US Pioneer component stereo in Germany on a transformer with no problems. Well, the CD player had problems, but that was because it was old and dying to begin with, I don't think the power frequency had any effect on that part of it.
