Power problems?

hey there, i've got an athlon tbird 1.2 running on a cheapo no brand 300w power supply... it's been fine for the past year... but now every time i try to turn on my computer it begins to start up... the fans start spinning etc... but before the first BIOS beep comes up the whole thing shuts down by itself.~

i unplug the power cord, replug and try again...nothing. after a few more tries it finally boots up...

i haven't got that much stuff, 1 hard drive, DVD drive and burner.... and it's been running OK until recently

does this mean i need a new power supply?

Could be your PS or possibly...? What elcheapo MB do you have...? Some boards will do as you described if the cpu fan rpm is not detected... cause...? possibly a bad rpm leg of a cpu fan...? Also you might consider unplugging every plug and card in the PC and reseating them...

well... it is an Asus A7v133 hehe.... but i'll try unplugging the cards and everything and see if it still happens..
