Hey,
First, my specs are as follows:
Enermax 465 430W PSU
Intel Pentium 4 2.53GHz
Gigabyte GA-SINXP1394 SiS655
2*256MB Corsair XMS3500C2PT
ATI Radeon 9700 PRO
30GB Maxtor
80GB IBM
LG 48X Burner
Audigy 2
Hauppauge Nexus-S
Anyways, recently, probably over the past week and a half, I have been noticing a couple problems with my computer. First, I came home from an 8 hour shift to find my computer was off.. weird. Another time, I noticed that my Vantec Tornado fan, connected to a Vantec Nexus NXP-201 was not spinning. I turn off, ensure power connectors are fine, they are, and turn back on again -- works!. Anyways, it seems almost when I slightly touch the front upper case near the drive bays, my fan either seems to either stop spinning or almost like its changing RPM.
Anyways, this morning I was playing a game of Halo, I got out and started listening to some mp3's. I noticed there was no center channel audio on my Klipsch Promedia 5.1's. So I go to the back and make sure the wire is properly inserted in my Audigy 2. While I was doing this, the blue illuminated lights from my Nexus NXP-201 start to get dimmer, and the fan stops spinning. Now, I turn off my computer, make sure all connections are tight, and turn back on. Now I get this weird sound, a hum that goes for 3 seconds or so, then stops, goes for 3 seconds, etc. Anyway, looking closer, I noticed that this is the northbridge fan mounted above the chipset. I unplugged the wire, plugged it back in -- same deal.
So, I'm starting to lean towards it being a power supply problem. The power supply is probably about 10 months old. Does anyone have any other input, possibly another theory why it is doing this?
I've got an Enermax 350W downstairs in another rig, which I intend to swap out with mine, I just did not have time earlier as I had to leave for school.
Suggestions very much appreciated,
Thanks,
phrowzen
