Power Problem. LED lights up on my Asus board

The idiot that owned it before me didn't have a power switch and he jumped the power pins with a screwdriver to turn it on. I am sure that probably messed something up. Is there anyway I can fix it? Or is there a way to bypass the front power switch for on/off and just use the one on the power supply?

I don't see why that would mess anything up. Actually, that's a normal bench procedure.

You should still be able to connect the case power switch, unless he twisted the pins together or something.

You can also set the BIOS to power on the board whenever there is power from the PSU. that would basically make your PSU the power switch. I'd still recommend using the case power switch.

No. He didn't twist the two together. I wonder what the hell could have happened. I have tried 3 different socket a cpus, all within the board range, and oodles of ram. I must have one of the dip swiches set wrong.

What model of Asus board is it? Can YOU use a "screwdriver" and power it up using the method he did? The only other switch I can think of that you'd watch to check is the one that clears the CMOS setup (BIOS configuration). Make sure it's not set on "clear mode". Ciao.
