I have to send a Power point Pres to someone, but i do not want them messing with it and i want them just to be able to read it. I know you can make it read only. but when its read only can't you just save it at as a non-read-only then you can have your way with it. Thats at least what i think. Now is there any way to make it so they can;t even save it to a non-read-only file, all they can do is open, read, and close the file, no saving no editing nothing. I was trying to figure this out, but thought I would give you guys a try. Thanks

From the PowerPoint 2002 Help File:

Require a password to open or change a presentation
When you create a password, write it down and keep it in a secure place. If you lose the password, you cannot open or gain access to the password-protected presentation. Microsoft cannot provide assistance for opening or modifying a presentation whose password you don't remember.

  1. Open the presentation you want to create a password for.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Security tab.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • To require a password to open a presentation, in the Password to open box, type a password, and then click OK.
    • To require a password to modify a presentation, in the Password to modify box, type a password, and then click OK.

Note Setting a modify password allows others who do not know the password to view the presentation, but prevents them from making any changes to the presentation.
  4. In the Confirm Password dialog box, type the password again, and then click OK.
