Power point presentation: light text and dark background?

That's what I thought you were supposed to do. Everyone else in my class so far had been doing the opposite. I think it makes it harder to read, the text ends up looking washed out.

What do you guys usually do?
 
Depends on the type of projector I am using. I always test beforehand. If I am unable to test, I always have two versions and do a quick check before the presentation.
 
I actually just gave a presentation to my research group, and I used a dark blue/black background with white text. I think it looks better though if you use a drop shadow on the text, which was the default text style for the presentation template I used.

Don't forget to include subliminal pornographic images in your presentation!

If you are going to be printing copies for people, or expect anyone to ever rpint the thing, use black on white please.
