Due to a power outage this evening at the "old house", the Q and associated services were knocked offline for over 4 hours. My apologies for lost production or email service.

I can feel you pain! Sunday I had a GFI trip in the garage and lost 5 machines for 8 hours. 🙁

Could someone write a script that would run in the background and ping all LAN based boxes periodically? Please?

JWM,
You don't need to write a script, I think this program is what you need:

FreePing

It will ping a list of IP addresses (or dns names) and give you a pop-up if they stop responding! And its' FREE! 😀

(I just love free stuff 😉)
