Power out on campus

About 1hr30mins ago the power went out in our building, then we found out that most buildings around us were out also.... whats funny is that I was inder a desk plugging a new monitor in when it went out and the people waiting on me were like: "what have you done now!!!" ... was hilarious... after I got over the shock of course....

Seems we will be out most of the day... and its finals week...
the official reason for the power outage: substation caught fire....

Anyway...its dark in my office...but at least my servers are keeping me warm.... temp in the building has dropped 20 degrees at least already.....
 
man..i wish it was UCSD... 🙁

2 finals in a row today...took 3 already...

5 classes is really a drag....3 ece done though..so these next two psych should be childs play in comparison..wish me luck!

We have a backup generator for our building and the next... all network equipment runs off APCs which themselves run off the backup generator... and about 90% of our pcs (staff/servers/labs) are hooked up to the generator... but there is no light nor is there any heat....
 
The funny thing... my own pcs were not on the backup generator, we have regular electric sockets in the wall and orange colored sockets, and one of my coworkers decided to clean up the mess in our area a few months back and plugged my surge protector in a regular socket.... so I had to crawl around in the dark and reroute the power for my pcs to one of the orange jacks.... Aghhhh
 
Uhh... thats really weird... but no its SLU as in Saint Louis University... 🙂
the power is still out btw.... and there was an announcement to the fact that all non essential employees can go home if their building didn't have any power at all... Since we have partial power... so I get to stay....

haha yeah that'd be good, i just took a math final, got a cs one tomrorow
