Power on from keyboard not working, suggestions?

Lemee see, mobo is an Asus A7n266 VM AA, jumpers are set correctly, I've got the the necessary amperage on the +5v line but I can't get the puter to boot via the power button (on PS/2 keyboard), nor the "boot on space bar" option in bios. No luck with 2 different power supplies or keyboards. Any suggestions/tips/questions/trolling etc. welcome. Thanks 🙂

I just set up two of my systems to power on with the press of any key on keyboard.

How about setting it for "Any Key" in BIOS.

Maybe you need to have a power management setting enabled in BIOS as well.

Yeah, most likely it's a Bios setting for Power Management.

Yeah, the only option in bios is "power up from keyboard" and it can only be set to "spacebar" (which I havn't been able to get working yet) or disabled.

Most motherboards require a jumper change to enable power on features from USB and keyboard. I was never able to get power on by keyboard working w/ my IC7-G, but I imagine that's because it's a USB keyboard.

Yeah there's a jumper setting but setting it didn't work either. Here's a link to the user manual ( link ~3mb) if anybody's interested. I don't know if I'm missing something :/

I looked through your mobo manual.
You need to have the KBPWR1 jumper set to default on pins 1-2, which I assume you have done.

Then in section 4.5.1 you need to set the correct option for keyboard power on.
It seems there are several options there, and I tell you the manual is none too clear about what is the correct setting.
I would suggest you try each of those settings and I am confident one of them will work.
(the manual is very unclear and contradictory on this, looks like setting it to "spacebar" may be turning the keyboard power on feature OFF).

Nebor, you are probably right that power on by keyboard will not work because you have a USB keyboard.
The manual states that you can't use a USB mouse for this function but says nothing about a USB keyboard. If I had a USB keyboard or an adaptor I would test it out for you.

Alternatively, if you have a PS2 mouse , you could set that to power on your IC7-G.

The manual says something about enabling ACPI Suspend Type in Power Management of BIOS to enable Power On by Keyboard/USB, you might play around with those settings.
I have mine set to "ACPI Suspend Type S3(suspend to RAM)
There is also a setting there referring to USB.

The only settings for it are "space bar" or "disabled" when I go to bios, unfortunately, tho the manual kind of lists a few other options (but, as you've noticed, the manual itself is a pain in the arse).
