Just got a new CPU and motherboard so I wanted to install it in my computer. The CPU is a Core 2 Duo E4300 and the motherboard is a ECS P4M800PRO-M. I believe I connected everything correctly but when I power on, nothing is displayed on the monitor. I've tried connecting the monitor to the onboard graphics and my AGP graphics card but neither works. Also my computer is making some strange clicking sound. Anybody know what's going on?

Could it be that I'm using DDR333 memory while the motherboard supports DDR400 memory?

i think its not the cpu heatsink problem.if there is problem from cpu heatsink it doesnt make the click sound.because the heat sink cant work properly, the cpu is hot n send the signal to the mobo n the sounds comes out from the buzzer not the click sound.

I figured out that the clicking was coming out of the hard drive and a light flashes every time it clicks. Everything seems to be connected properly. I tried without the gfx card but that didnt work either.

Did you plug in the 4-pin +12v power supply lead that is near the cpu socket? If it still doesn't post I would bench build everything outside of the case.

The 12V connector is connected but I dont think thats the problem. A quick search on the ECS website revealed to me that only the latest BIOS firmware supports the E4300. The problem is I cant update the BIOS if I cant get it to POST. Would the mobo be able to run without the CPU just enough so I could update the BIOS?
