I don't get it. Woohoo lets help save the planet by turning all things off for 1 hr? Won't that just save the planet for an extra... hour? No impact at all really?

suicide works better.
get on it green folks!
To really maximize the impact of your suicide, you need to take out as many other people as possible when you go, preferably children, as they have the greatest consumption potential.

Won't save anything unless they ramp down the power production during that one hour.

The point is to bring attention to the idea. Looks like it succeeded.

I don't see how turning off everything will stop water from flowing through turbines that generate electricity. Whatever (small) impact the turbines and dams have on the environment will still be present if nobody uses power. Some places still use coal and some use nuclear, that's a different story I guess.

That's fine, that means more power for me during that 1 hour :D Not like it really changes anything.

I didn't even remember this off 1 hr thing until I saw this post, actually. Is it yet to happen, or happened already, or...?

LOL my power went out yesterday for a couple of hours from a storm.

The Planet is very angry with us for destroying it. Look at all the storms this year, she's ticked. Only by turning off our power for an hour can we appease her anger and turn to the righteous path of greendom.

Mine went out today for a couple of hours & it was a calm, nice day. Guess some one is taking this seriously :sneaky:

Actually i haven't heard about this. When is/was it supposed to happen?

I thought this thread was about power hour. A fine drinking tradition, certainly better than this hour without power.

Maybe this is about The Hour of Power, the old Sunday morning TV preacher show.

The places that use coal and nuclear are pretty insignificant though... so good point.
