both these come with an external power supply and that i want to know if i move around which i do often; if its possible for me to plug it into a usb 2.0 and will it supply the temporary power for transfers or that it is only possible that i have to connect the external power supply.

You will need the external power supply. The USB 2.0 drives the USB hub (a two-port hub) and the firewire is for data. However, neither will have enough power to allow you to turn on the drive. If you want a USB powered drive I would suggest something like this
