Power Magic Radeon 9000 64MB Trouble

I've had a problem with my Power Magic Radeon 9000 64MB which began a few months ago. It has persisted through many Catalyst driver upgrades and I'm using 3.9 atm. This happens to the screen out of the blue (never happens while playing games, and it is a video card issue). No matter what the CPU usage is, applications being used, room temperature or anything else, it happens every now and then. This also ocurred with my previous comp (P3 866, 256 SDRAM, Win ME), where the card was originally, but letting the monitor turn off by itself and turning it on again would solve the problem. With my new comp, that doesn't seem to work. I'm using WinXP Home and reboots are the only solution I've found so far. Anybody have a similar problem or a solution?

Five bucks on your monitor being borked. If it was dying before, it's dead now. 😛

It's definitely not the monitor since I've tested with other cards and the same thing DOES not happen. Thx for the help anyways 🙂

This looks a lot like bad RAM on the card.

Agreed... A couple of bits sticking at the right addresses can do that. And would also explain why it doesn't happen in 3d mode. Time to sell... 🙁
