Power line flashes

Hey guys:

During the windstorms and ice we saw green "lightning" but what was really happening was trees were touching power lines and sparking really BRIGHT at night.

Is the bright GREEN color because the wires are copper?

..I see the same thing when the fog comes in off the ocean. Arcing and sparking around the utility pole insulators.

I used to think that too until I saw a movie called The Fog. 😉
