I got MSI K9VGM-V and my power LED isnt flashing when i enter stand-by mode, everything is turned off so when i waken up i were thinking my pc is off.

Is there something i can do to enable that led while in stand by mode?

Yes you can ... Write your own BIOS :)

The system status LED is under control of ACPI, and that is part of the BIOS.

My Abit IP35 flashes a different led that I have hooked to the 2nd HDD led in my P180b. The power led is off when the system is in standby.

Just looked at the manual for your board. You're out of luck.

They dont have much information about bios in manual.

There is two options in bios.
Acpi function: Enabled/Disabled
Acpi Standby State: S1(POS)/S3(STR)

Got this froma nother MSI board manual.
S1(POS) The S1 sleep mode is a low power state. In this state, no system
context is lost (CPU or chipset) and hardware maintains all system
context.
S3(STR) The S3 sleep mode is a lower power state where the information
of system configuration and open applications/files is saved to
main memory that remains powered while most other hardware
components turn off to save energy. The information stored in
memory will be used to restore the system when a ?wake up?
event occurs.

When its set to S1 or S3 it disables everything even PSU cooler stops, and mouse and keyboard die to, and only way to resume work is click power button.

Three questions:
Wont PSU overheat when cooling fan is not working?

Maybe its normal to have power LED off in one of this S1/S3 modes?

Can i go into conventional standby somehow?

P.S. When i disable ACPI Function in bios my pc reboots when it just start loading windows (XP SP2).
