I am looking for a cheap power inverter that plugs into a cigarette lighter in my car for long car drives. It's probably going to power a laptop and/or a portable dvd player. Since it will only be used a few times a year does anyone know what the cheapest one is that will power a laptop? Also what wattage should I look for?

Thanks

Look at the power supply for your laptop, it should show the wattage on the side of the brick. Mine is 60w, but they can range from 50w - 100w+ for the big boys. I would stick with a 100w or higher inverter, just incase you need to charge something more powerful.

I just bought an inverter the other day for my drive down to disney land. I bought a 75W inverter form radio shack for ~$30. It was only after I bought it that I had noticed my laptop PSU runs at 90W...its still worked fine tho.
