I currently own this:

http://www.amazon.com/enermax-EG565P-VE...-6552570-4652710?ie=UTF8&s=electronics

I ordered and E6400, P965 mobo and two sticks of DDR800 just two days ago.

I know it is enough for what I currently have :

- 6800 GS
- 1 Sata drive
- 2 Optical drives
- 3 USB (PS2 keyboard FTW :D ) and the new stuff

so my question is: since Im planning on going for a new vid card in the next 5-6 months...should I be saving for a new PSU as well or it still can handle the power needs
for my future system (given I get say a 8800GTS kind of card) ?

Thanks :)

Should be fine. See another thread on the video forum (forgot what it's called); the Inquirer ran SLi 8800GTXs with a QX6700 overclocked and some other insane stuff on a pretty low wattage PSU.

an 8800gtx will run fine on that. Also considering the next gen of video ards are going to make the transition to performance per watt instead of raw performance you should be good to go for quite some time.

You know what I'm wondering, is when was the last time someone posted a thread where their PSU wasn't enough to run the system? I mean seriously, I think this PSU thing is blown way out of reason. I really believe that if you have a 500W PSU from a good reliable brand, you can run just about whatever you want.

How about the guy who got a Quad Core and blew his 700w good brand PSU?

It is inflated nowadays because it was so deflated before! No one looked into PSU's until around 9800 PRO days where people would start getting failures, lockups etc.
