Power DVD or DVD-ROM problem

I have a Pioneer DVD-106s. Best DVD player in the world until this problem occurred.

When you play the DVD, the sound is playing normally, but the picture is playing abnormally fast, looks like maybe 2x or 4x. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling PowerDVD 3.0, tried re-enabling UDMA on the DVD drive, nothing.

I haven't made any changes to my system since the last time i played a DVD, which worked fine.

😕

Hm, I have the same DVD-ROM and I use the same software.. my playback is flawless... I know there are settings to switch the playback speeds but I suppose you've already tried that.. I am not sure why it would do that.. do you by any chance use your DVD-106S for reading CD's for burning? I don't like how the ROM reads and I am forced to use my CD-RW for reading the CD's too.. my Asus 50X MAX was FAR superior for working with Nero and the DVD-106S isn't even supported in Nero 5.5.1.8 the version i have... argh.
I had it reading in 5.5.2.4 but it was giving me errors while burning whereas 5.5.1.8 wasn't, so i switched back.
sorry to change the topic a bit but i thought i'd give a go to see if you had opinions on the use of the 106S as a reader..

I've used it as a reader, and still do. The only part that it sucked in was reading copy-protected CDs. Other than that it was fine.

I installed that PC Friendly DVD software, and that works fine. I'm gonna try an uninstall/reinstall again and see what happens.
