Power DVD issues with T2: Ultimate Edition?

XMan

I can get into the menus of the film, but as soon as I ask it to play either the theatrical version or the special edition, it crashes right after the Dolby Digital and THX splashscreens.

Is it a double sided double layered DVD? Try renting a DVD that is double sided double layered and seeing if you can reproduce the error. I found that a lot of software DVD players seemed to be very picky about these sort of things.

Also, if you have any Adaptec CD burning software installed, try uninstalling it and viewing the movie sans any Adaptec software. When I got my H+, I was pissed because I thought there was a problem - my computer kept crashing when playing X Files DVD. So I installed PowerDVD and it still crashed when playing X Files. I read somewhere that uninstalling the Adaptec software might help. I did so (and removed all the .dlls when prompted by the uninstallation program) and no more crashes!

A sure-fire way to tell if this is a PowerDVD error or something else (like the Adaptec software) is to install another software DVD decoder and trying to play the same DVD.

I have not had any problems with DVD's using WinDVD 2.2

Give it a shot 🙂

I have not had any problems with layer changes before . . . I can run The Matrix, Independence Day SE, Abyss SE, all fine . . .

I do have Adaptec software installed . . . I'll get rid of it, try WinDVD, and see what happens.
