To play DVDs, i always used ATI's MMC which came with my 9800xt and before that the older version that came with the 8500 . . .

. . . now MMC v9 IS greatly improved over the older versions BUT i just got CyberLink's PowerDVD 5 with my new DL burner . . . it works awesome without any 'glitches'.

should i even bother installing ATI's mmc? [i'm on a clean Win2K install]
will i miss anything by not having MMC?

PowerDVD is great, it's the only player that has let me watch DVDs on my 3520A so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say stick with it.

PowerDVD5 is great, IMHO -- plenty of features, but not a resource hog. I recently gave v6 a try, but went back to v5 after seeing the upgrade wasn't worth it for me.

Nice thing aboot a universal player like Media Player Classic is that it will play anything so long a the decoder/filter is installed (many are actually included), as opposed to players which limit playback to the formats that one company wants to promote.

i had WinDVD with my notebook . . . very nice and i didn't bother with MMC then.

HOWEVER, since i got PowerDVD5 for "free" with my DL burner . . . i'll keep it installed and FORGET ATI's MMC

thanks for your further replies
