power cutting to my car's cd player when I hit eject...

OK, so I have a pioneer DEH-P9300 cd player. When you hit eject the faceplate folds down, and the cd pops out. Lately when I hit eject the faceplate folds down...and then it goes black, like the powers cut to it. The cd doesn't pop out. Then a few seconds later the faceplate returns back to the normal operating position and the power comes back on. What gives?

The faceplate goes "black" whenever it is in an "open" position. It isnt losing power.

The CD may not be popping out due to a faulty mechanism inside the radio, or it may have a label or something on it that is peeling off and preventing it from coming out.

Do you hear any noises if you listen closely .. say something like a mechanism trying to eject a CD?

no noises. There's no labels on the cds. It's done this with multiple cds. It doesn't happen all the time, but it's happening almost constantly lately.

Hmm... You sure you arent hitting the power button by mistake? Dunno what else would cause that to happen intermittently like that

I think the motor to eject the CD is dying so it's over volting which causes a surge. But I'm not an electrician.

I tried resetting it, that did nothing to help. I have a spare face plate somewhere, i dropped it years ago and half the image got scrambled on it, so I bought a new face plate. I'm going to put it on the head unit and see if that fixes it, then I'll know it's my good face plate and not the head unit. If it still does it, I know it's something else. I can't find the damn back up faceplate though. I'm tearing my house apart looking.
