Power Consumption Guide?

I'm planning on doing an upgrade, for a system with a 300W Antec PSU. The system is currently Radeon 8500, KT-400 motherboard, AMD Thunderbird 1.4. The vid card will be kept. The changes are:

-New proc, either Pentium D 805 (will be overclocked some, on air) or AMD64 3200+
-New motherboard to go along with proc
-1 or 2 GB of RAM (should I get DDR2 or regular DDR?)

Is there a way to figure out how much power this will need? If not, can anyone estimate for me?

Another option is to move my AthlonXP/Radeon9600Pro system onto the 300W PSU, and use its 400W PSU for the new setup.

Thanks for your time.

PSU calculator - not completely accurate but it will give you an idea.

For the ram, the type you get will depend on what the CPU/mobo uses. I'm an AMD user so I haven't really kept up with the new intel stuff. All I can say is, get the ram that fits the mobo 😛

300W will be enough. If you go with the Intel system, then get DDR2. If you go with the AMD system, then get DDR.
