Power conditioner. What should I get?

I'm looking to buy a power conditioner for my projector, I live in Savannah, and the wall power seems pretty shotty, so I'm looking to get a power conditioner to protect my investment. Anyone know of a good power conditioner?

Just curious, but how is a power conditioner better than a good UPS?

I kinda wondered that myself, I figure with a ups if there is still power comming out of the wall, it's not gonna switch to battery, where a power conditioner will regulate the voltatge. If I'm wrong I'd love to pay alot less for a decent UPS.
