Power calibration error

Has anyone experienced this error using Easy CD Creator? I am using a Phillips cdd4001/72 cdrw drive and it gives me this error on every cd I try to burn. Here's my setup.. Cel 667, i810 motherbrd, 64mb and 15gb hd. I have a generic 40x cd drive as well. The error will appear if I am trying to copy cd to cd or hd to cd. I have tried different brands of media: imation, maxell, memorex and pny. Any ideas?

Usually, Power Calibration Error means cheapie media.

You can try burning at a lower speed (say 1x-2x) and see if it works. If not, your drive is toast, and from the sounds of it, its the laser that went the way of the dodo.

I was afraid that would be the verdict.. I had tried to slow down the burn, it even completed the recording, then died while closing it. Thanx for help.
