Power Calibration Error

Yes another one. I have seen a couple posts on here with regard to this problem. I have a dvd burner NEC-3520a. I have tried a couple types of media and no avail. I have been able to backup one movie using this burner so I am not sure what the problem is. Also I have the burner hooked up through an IDE to USB adapter and I was wondering if this could make a contribution to this error? So can anyone help me or does it sound like a problem with the actual burner?

yes..place the drive either internally on regular ide or on USB2.0/1394..then give an update..gl

I have been getting "Power Calibration Errors" lately for some reason. I have a Optorite 201, and its worked great until the past week or so.
Are these a power supply problem, media, or the drive itself? I gave up last night.. I will look at it more tonight...

The "Power Calibration" is something a burner does before it begins to burn media. There's a small circle on the inside of a disc reserved for this purpose. If there are power calibration errors, this can mean that the drive is simply fussy with that type of media, especially RW types (I've had these problems before) or there could be something wrong with the laser or related parts in the drive itself. Try a different kind of media.

it does happen to be RW media. Whats weird is that it worked great for 6 months with this brand of CD-RW media.. and now i go to re-do some stuff on the disc and this happened.
