Power calibration error w/ Optorite dd0203

i just got this drive today, and i tried HD-burn with it.

before it tries to burn to a CD. it gives me 'Power calibration error' and recording stops

so far, i've tried 7 different media. (brand names, most of them)

using nero 6.

drive burns CD well.. so what could be the problme? i haven't burned DVD media yet.

i get that error w/ incompatible media. I had some fuji and memorex's that wouldn't work. burning an imation cd-r right now w/ hd-burn and its working great. tdk also worked well for me.

Last time I had the 'Power calibration error', I had tried using old 4xcdrw. Anyways, it somehow corrupted the drive. Flashing or anything else didn't work. Pacific Digital (rebagged Liteon) replaced it (with what, I can't recognize)
