I've got an Antec case, and I'm thinking about about putting two fans in the front and connecting them to my Zalman fan controller. I've forgotten all my college physics. If I use this to split the power from my Zalman to the two fans, will their performance be affected? There is a slight drop in voltage from using any fan controller, I know. I would go dig up my old college physics tests on simple circuits, but they're in the garage somewhere. I guess the only way it would be affected is if that splitter wired the fans in parallel, but that wouldn't make any sense... I'm assuming the splitter keeps the devices in a series circuit. Anyway, past my bedtime, old memories of V=IR and physics lab coming back to haunt me.

It will work, but I would try not to hook up more than two fans onto one motherboard fan header, and performance shouldn't be affected, as the splitter creates a parallel circuit :). I'd try to go for a 3 to 4 pin adapter and hook the fans up to your power supply to be safe, as you do have the possibility of blowing out the fan circuit on your motherboard.

they would be in parallel. but dont forget to take into account how many watts the fan controller can take. for my fan controller, it's 18 Watts per channel. i have 2 fans connected to it which take up 1.5 AMPS and 12VDC for 18 Watts (each). for instance, if your fan controller also has 18 W per channel, make sure both fans dont draw 1.5 Amps total. or 7.5 Amps each if identical.
