Power Button Wires Ripped off...

Is it possible to start a computer by shorting out the two pins that the power button is connected to?

Also, when resoldering the two wires, does it matter if I put them back on the same contact?

Why would anyone steal just the power button?

Hey, hey, hey! Don't you know by now the only thing PC's understand is violence! 😉

Why not just buy new switches and save the brown out risk?

1. yes
2. Not sure quite what you mean, orientation does not matter but they need to be on the same two pins they were on

its very easy to repair, i even went to radio shack and bought a momentary on/off switch and built a tester button from it, now I dont have to use a screw driver!🙂 it doesnt matter which wire goes on which pin.....

Hi, Yes, you can short the two pins. If the momentary power switch has two extra pins then chances are the are another set of contacts in the switch. Give it a try. No chance of damage. Hope this helps a bit, Jim
