power button/reset + motherboard

if my power button is 3 pins, and my reset button is 3 pins, but my motherboard indicates that it only allots two pins to the power button and the reset button, does that mean it won't work?

im assuming it does - since i plugged it in anyway and triedf to turn it on with no luck.

but i just want to make sure before i go and purchase a new power button - which i can do right? (apparently compusa doesnt carry them, so does anyone know where i could buy them?)

nope, nothing hpapens whe ni push the power button, the power supply doesnt start spinning, etc.

Are you mistaking power LED connector as power switch connector? Cos Power LED connector is often 3 pins.

Power button switch shoud be 2 pins only, and same goes to reset button. Can you sen us a pic or the make/model for your case?

i'll post a picture when i get home - if i can get on a computer again.

but the wires say

vcc1
data -
data +

and
vcc2
data -
data + (or it could be + then -)

nevermind, i went through it again and it looks like i did have the right ones. i put them in, but i still cant boot up my computer:|

Do you have a switch from another comp? Or you can just use a screwdriver to short the 2 pins for the power switch to test out and make sure everything works, then deal with the other switch later.

i actually found the 2 pins connectors and plugged them in, but it still doesn't work.

i tried taking a paper clip and touching the two pins together, but my computer didnt turn on from that either.

i'm starting to think i messed up more than just here
