Point of View 8800GTS. I'm contemplating about buying this card, although i'm unsure of the 2d quality of the "point of view" brand in general. I currently own a leadtek 6600GT and the 2D quality is great (@1600x1200x85hz)

So i was wondering if anyone has had any experience with POV cards and any info on their 2D quality?

Many thanks in advance.

PS. I'm using a Sony CPD-G520 CRT monitor. Reference card i use to compare for 2D quality is the Matrox G400MAX.

All the current 8800's are made by the same company & use Nvidia reference design, so the quality of the card shouldn't be too much of an issue, its the warranty & RMA/tech support that are the biggest concerns & for that reason, unless that card is uber-cheap I'd suggest going with EVGA instead.

EVGA has a true lifetime warranty (provided you register the card within 30 days), overclocking will not void your warranty, swapping out your heatsink/fan will not void your warranty as long as the card isn't physically damaged & they also offer advanced overnight RMA replacement for a small fee.

Well the card is uber cheaper than other famous brands (Leadtek, Asus etc), around 100AUD cheaper. Just worried about the sharpness of 2d images since i do graphics design in addition to gaming ;)

2D IQ is the same for all 8800 seris cards ... in other words pretty good.

I have an EVGA 8800GTX & 2D IQ is just as as the X1900XTX it replaced, while 3D is noticably better.

Currently - ALL 8800's are made by Asus. That may change in the next month or two, as OCZ announced they will be introducing an overclocked card, and I noticed XFX has what they call the "Triple-X" (XXX) versions of the GTS and GTX, both with overclocked memory and core.

I had a Hercules version of that card & mine was decent too, but your right & 2D IQ was all over the map then... Thats what made Nvidia clamp down on card makers starting with GeForce 3 & from that point forward 2D IQ has been solid across the board.

ahh, so I can just go for the cheapest 8800GTS then. I guess its now a matter of reliability/durability instead of 2d quality.

Thanks for the response guys, much appreciated. =)
