Greetings!

It's sad but it looks like Orb the free awsome media streaming program has gone dark. With that being said does anyone know of any good free replacements that were as good, easy to use and user friendly.

I have tons of Movies/TV's shows hosted in my apartment, I would like to be able to stream them to remote PC's, and maybe even phone/tablets etc. I especially want to be able to stream live TV though like you could with Orb. With Orb you couldn't use Tuners with Cable Cards, so I have a PCI express TV tuner I could still use if needed.

So anyone found any viable replacements?

Holy crap! I haven't used Orb since I was on a WinMo phone in 2006. I thought they got bought years ago and I never really paid attention once I got an iPhone.

Plex will handle all of your video file streaming duties.

For live television, a lot of people use Splashtop, as it has a pretty good compression routine and can display audio/video over the stream smoothly. You would basically just remote control your computer and watch TV like you would in MCE.

I'd prefer to use a Slingbox though, but I know that options not "free".

God MediaBrowser3 seems like such a PITA. I use the older version, and have it installed and setup on each individual PC. My understand is that MB3 is client side based, meaning you set it up on one PC, and then all the other PC's connect to that one?

MB3 is fantastic. Install the server, then install a client on each machine. The client automagically finds the server on the same network. I only have one machine still on MB2, and that one will be converted soon.
