Potentially the largest data breach in history.

At this point, I honestly don't care about my personal information such as name, address, and email. Only thing I really can do is change my PW.

I don't know, it doesn't sound like a good idea to have your home address and phone number in a data breach. You never know who might decide to stalk you for some reason or another.

It's not that it's a good thing by any means - the problem is that there has been so many at this point that it may as well just be called public information.

Yes but correct me if I'm wrong, currently doesn't it require bit of work to get someone's home address and phone number online?

No. It's easy. For $14.99 a month, get unlimited phone and home listings, reverse lookup and criminal record.

No, you just need to Google their name to get their address. Phone number can be a little more difficult, but not usually.

Depends on person to person as to how "easy" it is. However, I'm sure if you try hard enough, getting copies of the actual database leaks isn't difficult if you know where to go.

Many years ago I was at a HOA meeting and the lady that wanted to paint her house green was arguing with the president of the HOA. They were getting into it and she said that she could get his phone number because she works for the phone company, but it would be illegal the way she would do it. He looked at her and asked what was illegal about looking in the phone book.

Years ago back when I had a land line, I had my number not listed in the phone book. I forgotten what the term is for that.

Yeah.

BTW, that freaky thing you do in the show? Stop it! Totally creeped me out.

Pretty sure the white pages have been around for over 100 years.

Yeah it looks like my usual, most common email address is part of the data breach, in 17 instances I think. Also a password I've used before was part of it too, but it's not really important. I started going through the passwords in my KeePass database last night just to double check that a current one isn't compromised. Hackers (not the "good" ones doing ethical hacking and such) are such scum.

I've seen some fishy behavior in the past couple years or so with people trying to create Rockstar Social Club accounts with my email and other things.

That Have I Been Pwned reference is a good one; it's super easy to check your email (check your passwords here).

So they want me to type in a password I've frequently used and/or may still use today? I think I will pass on that test.
My email was listed in "only" 6 different breeches *sigh*

Only 1 site for me, I think I will take my chances like every other time this has happened.

Oh and it was for something that I used my burner password and I don't care if that gets out.

I heard about this and posted in security forum yesterday.

It would be nice to know which sites got hacked. I recently went around and changed my passwords for EVERYTHING even old services I don't use anymore liked old Tripod accounts. (surprise they even still existed). Looks like I need to do it all over again now. Somewhere somehow I am hacked really good though, I get tons of threatening emails saying they got access to my web cam and email account, I don't even have a web cam though, but they do have my password because they even put it in the email. I don't use that password anymore though but it's one I used to use on non important stuff. There's two passwords that they got, the other one I don't even know what I used it for, I could not find it at all in my password manager.

Yeah you do have to trust that site. I think he's legit, a security researcher guy like Brian Krebs I think.

Ugh these people that steal others' credentials and identities need to be strong up by their little peckers imo. Even if it's someone who's being a little lax in their security precautions; what so you think it's OK to take their credentials? Bah. I guess I was just raised to not be a piece of shit.

Yeah wish the government would spend half the effort they spend on these large hackers than they do on the small ones. Download a bunch of PDFs off a university server by plugging in to a network closet that was left open? 35 years in jail! Hack tons of people's passwords? Nothing.
