potentially stupid question

so, i'm building a budget amd sys, which i hope to overclock. i'm looking at an inexpensive x2 4800+ and 780g board...
my question is...were i to go ahead and take the ddr2-1066 plunge, will that assist in my overclocking? i'm aware it won't run 1066 with anything other than phenom, but i figure since i'll have to push up the clock (which will push up the mem)...i won't have to lower the mem divider with 1066 sticks in there...
is this idiocy, and if so...why?

incidentally, i'm really only hoping to push the clock up to 250, which would put the mem at an even 1000, 66 below spec.

my reasoning isn't only to do with the oc on this particular chip...figure i'd best get ready for that phenom quad i hope to pick up around christmas...

thanks in advance for the answer!

No, it will not help whatsoever. Also, Phenoms have lots of problems running 1066, or so I've heard. Im sure someone can chime in.

heh...in a way, i'm relieved. means i can go for that super talent ddr2-800 that runs 4-4-3-8!!!

yeah, i've heard rumblings of b2 phenom being buggy @ 1066...but then, b2 is buggy! haven't heard the same about b3...but the one i'm planning to get for christmas will be 45nm (unless something ELSE awful happens to AMD!!)..

thanks for the input!
