Potential Laptop HDD replacement...

My Mother's laptop HDD just suddenly "wiped" itself. Depending on the state of the HDD, I may have to replace it. I've worked on a ton of desktops, but no laptops.

Does anyone know of any tutorials or at the very least have any tips? Will I need any type of special tools?

TIA!

You shouldn't need any special tools. It's fairly easy to replace. Just remove the cover, pull out the hard drive, and replace. You should be able to get a diagram from the laptop manufacturer's website.

Laptop HDD's are incredibly simple. 1, 2 screws at most. Slide it out. Sometimes manufacturers employ some type of caddy; remove drive from caddy, replace w/new drive. Slide back in.

Use your common sense on where/how to remove it and all will be well

But yes, depending on the laptop the company will probly have a replacement guide.
