Even though some deals that are posted are only discovered Hot after they are posted here, there are many situations where I have seen people posting fraudulent Hot deals or sites that are a store front stealing money from unsuspecting victims.

I wholeheatedly enjoy seeing the community try and find Hot Deals but would hope we are responsible enough to look out for those newbie's who may not know the difference between a Good deal and a too good to be true deal.

I suggest that post like the following are placed into a single thread with a disclaimer so that those seeing the deals will know that they are not verified and are at high risk.

Perhaps once they become verified they can be put into their own thread for public comments.

Let me know what you think.

Could be HOT DEAL on Brand-Laptops & MAC if this store is legit. 43 mercutio11 Nov/02/2001 12:27 AM

nah

take responsibility for making a buying decision.

i like it the way it is. the only recommendation I would add, is to update the title as soon as the deal changes, to save others. if we took your advice it would be harder to see if a deal went bad.

the "deal" wouldn't be a deal unless it made it out of the potential deals thread. In other words it shouldn't be listed as a Hot Deal until verified that there isn't a Scam or Bait and Switch action going on.

The poster might not want to test out deal so he/she would post it in potential deal thread then the actual person who has the nerve/money to test out the deal and finds it truley a hot deal and not a scam would post it in the main Forum as it's own thread.

This way we have a central location for "Potential Deals" for those adventure seekers and the Main forum clean from spreading bad or untrusted deals.

I don't visit the I WANNA thread very often but I would definatly subscribe to a "Potential Deals" thread for new updates.

While I admire your good intentions this will not work.

Something others have tried and been successful at is creating their own personal website listing Hot Deals with links to the respective threads. Some have even categorized them, for instance music/DVDs go under one section, hardware into another, peripherals, monitors, software, free stuff, clothes/shoes, etc.

But creating one bloated "Potential Hot Deals" thread is against the rules and just won't work.
