Pot player doesn't show subtitle on mkv

What software do you use?
When I see a movie with subtitles I use the VLC media player. Then add the subtitle file or Sub track if it's embedded, under the Subtitle menu.
 
Not sure if this is any help, but Pot Player shows titles of all vids at top of window, including .mkv

settings/subtitles/check beside show hide subtitles/check display subtitles on overlay/check dispay bitmap subtitles outside.../check beside enable ass ssa subtitles
 
I didn't realize that PotPlayer was a media player. Still, you may want to try VLC as it is a very good one.
