no one thinks they are cute? :(

They are the filthy of the filthy. Only for farmers.

Wow, you're pretty ignorant, huh? Pigs are actually among the most intelligent animals, and are quite clean. The only problem (which leads to the stereotype of them being messy) is that they lack sweat glands and will roll in the mud to cool off in the summer time. But, given the opportunity to get into some water to cool themselves, they'd rather do that.

I actually have a pig. It does its business in the same corner of its stall every time. It usually keeps the rest of its stall quite clean. Her life was just spared this past week when it was finally decided to get her bred, rather than butcher her. So, in July, I'll have about 10 piglets for sale (if anyone wants to buy one :) ) By October, they'll be ready for pig roasts.

And, pot-bellied pigs are only small and cute if you are very careful what you feed them. I saw a pair of pot-bellied pigs at a farm market auction last year that wouldn't sell... auctioneer finally offered "$1 takes both" - everyone was just laughing - both pot-bellied pigs were 300 plus pounds each. I talked to a couple of people who said they considered just taking them to the butcher and having some cheap pork, but even then, it wouldn't have been worth the bother.

that people keep as pets
pigs are for food, not pets.

Where they are from (Vietnam), they are not kept as pets. They are eaten for food.

Now its time for bacon and eggs.

I don't see how a dirty filthy no good piece of ham rolling in the mud makes it anything but a filthy unintelligent piece of pork. And I've been on a pig farm many times.
