Apparently, they were never given permission to head to the Capitol.
Seems the permission was taken away, after numb nuts made his play with the bible in front of the church demonstration. Made the Capitol cops look bad, so we'll just stand around now, with ours thumbs up our asses.

The real problem now is that so many White Nationalists and violent extremists are members of the police and military.

They have been joining for decades and numerous warnings have been sounded but ignored.

If another large event occurs, I don't feel confident that everyone in law enforcement and the National Guard will be fully inclined to stop it.

Bolton reportedly found that the Capitol Police did not properly prepare despite an advanced warning. Three days before the riot, a Capitol Police intelligence assessment warned that Trump supporters were planning violence on the grounds they are tasked with protecting. “Stop the Steal’s propensity to attract white supremacists, militia members, and others who actively promote violence may lead to a significantly dangerous situation for law enforcement and the general public alike,” the intelligence report read.

Despite this report of the violence to come, the former chief of the Capitol Police determined that the likelihood of an attack was “improbable.” In a plan for the Stop the Steal rally, the agency wrote that there were “no specific known threats related to the joint session of Congress.” However. the January 3 intelligence assessment stated that “Congress itself is the target.”

As for the strategy on January 6, the inspector general found that Capitol Police leaders ordered the Civil Disturbance Unit not to use its most serious crowd-control weapons, such as stun grenades, as Trump supporters took over the building while lawmakers were still inside. Officers on duty told the inspector general that those tools could have helped “push back the rioters.” Bolton also found that some of the officers’ riot shields “shattered on impact” because they were improperly stored, and that other shields could not be put into the field because they were locked on a bus. To improve the response of the force and stop future intelligence breakdowns, he determined that the agency needed new “guidance that clearly documents channels for efficiently and effectively disseminating intelligence information to all of its personnel.”

That article links to this one with an interesting issue:

But Pelosi has indicated repeatedly that she was open to negotiation on the structure and composition of the commission. The real killer, it seems, has been GOP refusal to accept a January 6 commission whose scope is limited to the events of that day, as the Associated Press reported last week:
The Republicans said the investigation should not just focus on what led to the Jan. 6 insurrection but also on violence in the summer of 2020 during protests over police brutality — a touchstone among GOP voters and an idea that Democrats say is a distraction from the real causes of the violent attack.
In addition to a broader investigation of various and sundry forms of violence, Republicans also want any commission investigation to be guided away from the idea there’s something particularly dangerous about right-wing extremism:
Republicans swiftly decried the broad latitude that the commission would have to investigate the causes of the insurrection. They also objected to a series of findings in the bill that quoted FBI Director Christopher Wray saying that racially motivated violent extremism, and especially white supremacy, is one of the biggest threats to domestic security.

But will anything be done?

Not unless the Dems get their shit together, and set up a select committee.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The congressional committee probing the deadly Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol on Friday asked major social media companies including Facebook Inc, Twitter Inc and Alphabet Inc's Google to turn over records of messages related to the assault by Donald Trump's supporters.

The House of Representatives Select Committee asked for records connected to the violence and the days leading up to it, including the spread of misinformation and efforts to stop the certification of President Joe Biden's election.

Demands also went out to 4chan and 8kun.

Twitter declined to comment. TikTok and Parler did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The other companies could not be reached for immediate comment.

Facebook, Snap, Google and Reddit each confirmed they had received the request and said the companies would work with the committee.

Gab said in a statement that it received a letter from the committee, adding it had removed accounts "which sought to spread division and fear" in the lead-up to the inauguration.

The committee is seeking records dating to the spring of 2020 including what, if any, policy changes the companies made to slow the spread of false information online.

Former Facebook chief security officer Alex Stamos said that committee subpoenas did not have the power to force the companies to turn over private content, and he said contacts with law enforcement might be shielded as well. On the other hand, he said internal reviews of what the platforms could have done better might shape public understanding of what happened and why.

The last paragraph is why Fakebook needs to be taken down ... hard.

that sounds like a load of bullshit. that completely defeats the point of a subpoena.
