Posting in the wrong forum?

Mods, quick question about which forum to post it. I had a question about XP and hard drive space and I realize that Off Topic is the wrong forum. But is General Hardware also wrong? I'll post it in another forum as well but I don't want to make you guys mad either, thanks.

Mods are very understanding here. They are intelligent, smart, and clever, and will forgive you if you post in the wrong forum. They are the best. I wish my parents were as good as the Mods here!

LOL. 😉

If the question has to do with XP and the way it uses hard disk space, or if the question concerns file systems (such as NTFS or FAT32), then Operating Systems is definitely the right forum.

My suggestion to you, crazygal, is to just lurk around the various forums for a little while and see what stuff gets posted in each one, and what kind of stuff gets locked or moved. You will learn pretty quickly what goes where. And if you screw up and post something in the wrong category, and get a bunch of losers telling you that you posted in the wrong forum, just send a PM to "AnandTech Moderator" (do this through the page you get when you click on the "new messages" link under the AnandTech logo) with a link to your thread and ask them to move it to the forum that it should go to.

Mods I  you 😱

Depending what the question is gal, then you can judge for yourself whether its linked in with the OS, or the Hard Drive.

Which ever the main one is, pick the appropriate forum.

At the end of the day, if one of the mods think its in the wrong forum, the worst that will happen is the thread will be moved 😉

Dan 🙂

The mods don't care. For every misplaced topic that gets locked there are 10 that don't, so put it wherever you think it will be seen by the most people.
