This rocks! Signal is excellent with my SMC 7004AWBR which I bought for $70 and my Dell TrueMobile 1150 (Orinoco Gold) for $53.

I just can't get used to using a touchpad so I'm using a Logitech optical scroll wheel mouse.

Best of all this Compaq Presario 1500T laptop rocks and it only cost $839 :p

A WiFi network was the key to Mrs. Tallgeese finishing her dissertation after the birth of our first child.
She had to be able to set up anywhere in the house...whenever a window of time presented itself.

The house I'm buying already has ethernet jacks in every room... leads to a router to be placed in the downstairs office. It's going to be just as sweet... without having to spend all the money on wireless hardware. ;) But if you have money to spend... it's pretty cool, eh?

You need to work on that. Touchpads are great! Esp. if you have hands with a reasonably long reach... you can keep your hands on the keyboard, and reach down with your thumb to move the cursor! Very useful for papers/AIM/email/etc. I still love using my 3.5-year-old Compaq Presario 1672 with its K6-2+ processor at 450Mhz :)
