O man, having a new rig is the best thing. I went from a 486 66mhz to an athlon 1.4 pc chips m810lr and 128 of pc133. It was like FREAKING AMAZING that i could actually play mp3's and run visual plugins in winamp. Since then i have built the sucker up. the only origanal part is my processor which will soon change when i upgrade to an a7n8x 2x256 ddr333 (dual channel) AXP2500 333fsb, SATA 10k RPM wester digital hard drive, and a m audio wateva. /slide out of chair

with all that, you couldn't afford a decent sound card??

Yes. Wow. You have demonstrated your amazing ability to roll your eyes in fvcktardness. You, sir, are asstounding.

And you insult people who are happy with their new machine.

No, I didn't insult him, dumbass. I simply asked a question. I can't figure out why someone would pour any significant amount of money into a computer for an overall well-rounded system, but then leave the sound up to on-board hardware. I just don't get it. That's why I asked. If you don't like it, you can ignore it since it wasn't directed at you in any way, buttmunch.
Why do you insist on flaming me? Are you incapable of talking with some respect towards others?

On board sound cards are just fine for most people.

Why do you insist on jumping in where you don't belong? I didn't flame anyone but you for your comments toward me. I asked the man a question. Jesus. Back off.
You did indeed ask a question, but with an implication that he was... a... Dell user, or something. It rubbed me the wrong way, too.

well, i know i'm using onboard sound cause i don't have a nice enough set of receiver / speakers to really use a nice sound card... so why should i spend a lot of money on that when i can buy a better video card or a bigger hard drive at present

Exactly. They are the ones who pour ridiculous amounts of money into machines which are eventually... WORTHLESS! Don't be brought down by the geeks here, congrats on a new rig!

I agree. I remember the days (relatively not so long ago, but for me ages) about 10 years ago when a loaded 386 computer was sold for $800. Man, it wasn't a computer, rather a programmable calculator, but who knew it then? It was a real ripoff.

I think all these new CPUs and graphics cards are released to suck the money from us impulse buyers, the more the better and as often as possible.
