Finally got Windows XP Pro with SP1a installed. I telling you, there is nothing like a fresh install of Windows and Opera 7.01 to browse the forums. On-board audio is somewhat lacking. It wont output sound to the rear channel at all, I reall wanted to hook up my speakers to the rear, and my headphones to the front. This baby runs like a dream:

Abit AT7-MAX2
Windows XP Professional SP1a
AMD XP 1700+ T-BredA
512mb HyperX DDR333 Kingston RAM CAS2
80gb Western Digital SE ATA100 7200rpm
ATI Radeon 7500 4xAGP 64mbDDR

must i be the first to congradulate him on his new system! it's like the birth of a new baby, we should be showering him with kind words....sheesh, you guys just crack on the poor kid cause it's retarded and has a lame sound-card, it's not it's fault, it was born that way!!!
 
Lithium381, it's true, it's like having a baby! I'm just happy I upgraded from my slow ATA66 5400rpm WD hard drive to my new ATA100 80gb 7200rpm SE hard drive. It makes all the difference!
 
That is not at all top of the line but it is great if you upgraded from something a lot slower than that. I remember my first to second computer. Such a memorable thing because the new one was so much faster. A P90 to a P400.

I can't figure out why someone would pour any significant amount of money into a computer for an overall well-rounded system, but then leave the sound up to on-board hardware. I just don't get it. That's why I asked. If you don't like it, you can ignore it since it wasn't directed at you in any way, buttmunch.

wow i wouldn't have expected this amount of flaming in a new rig post!!!! that is pathetic on both sides. dude he got a new rig and is happy about him congradulate him in the upgrade. and other dude relax there are some people on here who just don't seem to realize that not everyone needs or wants the top of the line stuff to be happy, it will happen.
